Fresh strawberry lemonade is what completes summer for me. There is very little that I can do to resist this gorgeous pink thirst quencher that comes together in a pinch. The best part about making lemonade at home is that you can watch the sugar levels and this pink lemonade is no exception.

I am not going to sit here and wax eloquent about my love for this drink. Let’s get cracking on making this lemonade, peeps. Because it is well worth it.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries- Choose the reddest, ripest and freshest strawberries for making this lemonade. Check out the variations for making this with frozen strawberries.
  • Cane sugar- While you can regular white sugar, I prefer using raw cane sugar since it is slightly better. You can also use maple syrup, stevia, monk fruit extract or agave nectar here. If you are not particular about this drink being vegan, you can use honey as well.
  • Freshly squeezed lemon juice– I love using Meyer lemons for this recipe but you can use pretty much any lemons you have on hand.
  • Water- And finally some clean filtered water for this refreshing drink is all we need.

Dietary specifications

This drink is a naturally vegan lemonade that is free from soy, gluten and food colors. If you are serving this at a party, make sure to check if anyone is allergic to strawberries.

Make ahead, Shelf life and Storage

You can make this lemonade 3 days in advance. Store the lemonade in a clean and covered glass pitcher in the fridge. Serve chilled over ice cubes and a sprig of mint. Leftover lemonade keeps well for up to 2 days in the fridge.

Variations

Now comes the exciting part. The reason why this is my top lemonade is because it can be made in so many ways. I love recipes that allow your creative juices to flow boundlessly.

Fizzy pink lemonade

My daughter calls this pink lemonade soda. Switch the plain water to some sparkling water and you will have some refreshing bubbly pink lemonade.

Strawberry Lemonade Vodka

This drink is the perfect match for vodka. Spike this lemonade with some vodka and the result is this beautiful cocktail. Here is another tip- muddle this cocktail with some sweet basil and then serve it on the rocks. Bliss.

Make a float

Use sparkling water instead of still water for making this lemonade. And then top with Vanilla ice cream and serve it as an ice cream float. Super yum on a hot day and a great treat for kids back from soccer practice!

Grate up some granita

Freeze this lemonade and then blend the frozen drink in a high speed blender for a wonderful granita. I recommend Ninja blender for this. Please note that this is not a sponsored post.

Add more flavors

Throw in some herbs like fresh mint or sweet basil for a slightly different version of this drink.

Strawberry acai lemonade

When blending the berries and other ingredients, tip in 2 tsp acai powder and whip up this Starbucks style lemonade. Acai powder comes from acai berries,  small fruits that resembles grapes. These are considered superfoods.

Recipe Notes

  • Wash your strawberries and hull them before adding them to the blender.
  • To cut down on chilling time, use chilled water and ice cubes while blending the lemonade. Alternatively, use frozen strawberries instead of fresh ones.
  • Ninja blender is great not just for making this lemonade but for also other drinks including smoothies since it is a high speed blender. Please note that this is not a sponsored post.
  • Strain the lemonade through a strainer for a smoother lemonade that has no seeds, if you prefer.

Beautiful clicks.. we have months to go before summer..:-( btb, it is quite interesting to note that your strawberry season is in Winter.. here you get the best ones in Summer. I guess it has to do with temperature… your winter and our summer are similar temperature (around 15-20 C)
