The Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Cake is a chocolate lover’s dream come true. The first time i made this recipe from the Hershey’s Website, i was apprehensive. Because the recipe calls for adding hot boiling water, which i have never done in any of my bakes. But then, i found that the addition of hot boiling water intensifies the flavor of the chocolate so much that you simply cannot bring yourself to make any other type of chocolate cake but this Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate cake. So, when i say add boiling water, you must trust me and add that magic liquid to your batter. Yes your batter will be runny. Yes, your batter will be thin. But no, don’t act like that woman stuck on an elevator. Your cake will turn out just fine. In fact it will turn out perfectly because that is precisely what the Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Cake recipe does. It produces a dense, intensely flavored chocolate cake frosted with all that decadent frosting. Sinful. Luscious. Chocolate. Cake. Enough. Said!

Grease a round cake pan. I used an 8″ pan here and greased it with butter. I have always observed that greasing a pan with butter gives better results when you unmould the cake as against greasing it with oil
In a mixing bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda, salt and sugar. Give a good mix using a whisk.
Make a well in the center of this mixture. Break an egg and pour into this. Now, add the milk, vanilla and the oil. Using your electric mixer, beat the mixture for 2 mins on medium speed. This step is very important. If you over beat the mixture, you will have a rubbery cake.
Next pour in the hot boiling water to the mixture and beat again on low speed for about a minute. You will notice that the batter is thin. Do not panic. That is how it is supposed to be.
Pour the batter into the greased tin and bake in a preheated oven at 180 c for 30 to 35 mins or until a skewer inserted comes out clean.
Let the cake cool completely if you decide to frost it. Your Hershey’s Perfectly Chocolate Chocolate Cake is ready. In case you decide to frost this cake, you can find the recipe for the frosting here. The best thing about this cake is that you can make it in one bowl. No washing drill. Win- win, either ways eh?
