Ingredients
In all honesty, my love for this pizza is huge only because this is not a ‘from the scratch’ recipe. Some days, I am all for easy shortcut meals that make everyone happy and that includes me.
- Store bought naan bread– My favorite is Mission or Stonefire. This is not a sponsored post, peeps. I am just sharing my personal favorites here.
- Olive oil – for toasting the Naans
- Your choice of canned pizza sauce- While I recommend a tomato and basil sauce, I don’t see why others wont work here.
- Vegetables- I have used mushrooms, pitted olives, red bell peppers here. Feel free to use what you have on hand.
- Shredded cheese – For me, a cheese blend of shredded mozzarella and cheddar works great. You can use just mozzarella as well.
- Fresh herbs for garnish– Sweet basil for the win!
Variations
- Breakfast pizza– Use a combination of pesto, mozzarella and veggies of your choice. My bet is on beef tomatoes and sweet basil with a grind of freshly cracked black pepper.
- Switch the naan to garlic naan for a flavor upgrade.
- Alternatively, use other flatbreads like pita or tortilla. You can use even bagels or regular sourdough , because why not?
- Use different sauces for a different kind of pizza every time. BBQ sauce, pesto, marinara, tomato and basil, alfredo or even any pasta sauce is great here.
- Mozzarella is great guys! No doubt. But hey, a combination of cheese like gouda+ cheddar, Colby jack + mozzarella or just a tex-mex cheese mix is a fantastic +1 for this pizza.
- Make it Margherita – for a quick and lazy version, just skip the veggies and use only marinara sauce, some good quality mozzarella, sliced tomatoes, freshly cracked pepper and a drizzle of olive oil. So good…
- Use mini Naans for bite sized mini pizzas. These are great, especially when serving as an appetizer.
Leftovers- storage, shelf life and reheating
How to store leftover pizza?
Store any leftovers wrapped tightly in beeswax wraps or aluminum foil in the fridge. If using beeswax wrappers, wait for the pizza to cool down completely before wrapping.
Shelf life
These leftovers keep well in the fridge for 1 day.
How to reheat leftover naan pizza in air fryer?
Preheat your air fryer at 350F (180C). Mine has an preset preheat function. If your air fryer does not have this, set it to preheat manually at 4 minutes.
When done, place the leftover pizza slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Cook for 3 minutes. Serve hot.
FAQs
Yes, you can make this recipe in a regular air fryer and in the air fryer oven.
Frozen naan works beautifully here. Use them just as you would, regular naans.
These can be frozen easily. After you have assembled the pizzas, wrap them tightly using clingwrap or beeswax wrappers. Freeze till completely frozen.
You do not have to thaw them. Instead, preheat your air fryer at 350 F (180C) for 4 minutes. Arrange the pizzas in a single layer and cook for 6 to 8 minutes or until the cheese has melted and the veggies are cooked.
If you are going to use thicker naans like the ones you get in Trader Joe’s, the pizzas need a good 6 to 8 mins for a crispy crust. Thin naans need just 4 to 5 mins.
For those crispy edges, I recommend cooking them twice. First, we brush the naans with some water and pop them in the air fryer for 2 mins. The second round of cooking happens with all the other ingredients.
Serving suggestions
While this is mostly a quick snack that I serve for the 4 pm hunger pangs, I have also made this as an easy appetizer for gatherings.
To make this a complete meal, serve this pizza with a healthy salad or a side of veggies.

Recipe Notes
- While I made these in my Instant Vortex air fryer oven, you can make this in a regular air fryer or oven too.
- If you cannot source ready made naans, you can make your own by using my vegan naan recipe.
- Do not add too much sauce to the base. This makes the pizza soggy.
- The vegetables should be sliced thinly since the cooking time is less here and thinly sliced veggies cook faster.
- The Instant Vortex AF oven has the option to cook on three trays. If you choose to do this, the pizza on the topmost tray is most likely to overcook. So, I recommend switching the trays mid way through cooking.
- If you are making this in a regular air fryer and your toppings start to blow upwards to the fan, then secure them with a toothpick or choose heavier toppings.
- The timings and temperature remain the same for both the air fryer oven and the conventional air fryer.
- Oven timings and settings- For making these in an oven, arrange the assembled pizzas in a single layer on a baking tray. Bake for 12 to 15 mins in a preheated oven at 400 F (200 C) until the cheese has completely melted and looks golden on the top.
Method
Preheat your air fryer to 350F (180C). Brush each of the naans with 1 tsp water on the top. Bake for 2 mins in the preheated air fryer.
Brush the toasted naans with 1 tsp olive oil.
Now, spread the sauce evenly over the naans. Next, assemble the veggies in a single layer, taking care not to overstuff.
When you are done assembling the veggies, sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly on the veggies, ensuring that they are well covered in the cheese.
Finish by sprinkling the pizza seasoning evenly over the pizza and add a garnish of sweet basil leaves.
Preheat your air fryer at 350F (180C). Place the naans in a single layer without any overlap on the trays (or in the air fryer basket).
Cook for 7 to 8 minutes until the cheese has completely melted and is golden on the top. Keep an eye at the half way mark and switch pans if you are using the air fryer oven.
When done, remove and slice with a pizza cutter or a serrated knife. Serve hot.
